Nova Scotian Pop-Soul singer-songwriter Julia Tynes captivates audiences with her sweet and smooth vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and dynamic live performances. A past nominee for the Nova Scotia Music Awards and recipient of the ANSMA Emerging Artist Award, Julia has earned widespread acclaim. Her singles, Obvious and Stand Still, have amassed thousands of plays on national radio and landed prominent placements on platforms like Virgin Radio, CBC, CHOQ fm, and The East Coast Top Ten Countdown.After 13 years of living and performing in Toronto, Julia returned to her hometown of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia with a renewed passion for her career in entertainment, fueled by her experiences as a mother of two. Determined to reconnect with her community, Julia embarked on an incredible journey in 2024, performing over 45 shows across the province. Highlights included opening for Ashley MacIsaac, headlining the Nova Multicultural Festival, and participating in events like the HRM Canada Day Celebrations in Bedford. Julia had the honour to play a role and sing in the stage reading of ‘Jacket of Blue’ by Obediya Jones-Darrell. Julia also showcased her creativity with an original children’s Halloween musical in collaboration with Sky Entertainment. She ended the year as a Top Pick for Best Live Entertainment in Halifax through the Community Votes Awards.A graduate of the Randolph College for the Performing Arts, Julia is trained in ballet, jazz, tap, vocals, and acting. Her background as a competitive gymnast further fuels her ability to seamlessly incorporate music, dance, and movement into her performances. As the creative force behind her band and dance troupe, The Groove Club, Julia choreographs and delivers high-energy shows that blend original music with crowd-pleasing covers.Drawing inspiration from Motown classics, 70s rock, Amy Winehouse and pop icons such as Bruno Mars, Julia creates music that feels both fresh and nostalgic. Currently, she’s working on new music that channels the infectious energy of these inspirations while crafting a sound uniquely her own. Whether delivering an intimate performance or commanding the stage with electrifying energy, Julia Tynes continues to connect deeply with her audience, leaving a lasting impression.
