About Khorshid Khanoom Dance GroupFounded in September 1988 in Montreal, Canada, Khorshid Khanoom Dance Group was established by Aram Bayat — a graduate of the Iranian National Folk Dance Conservatory under the former Ministry of Culture and Arts in Iran. The group was created with the mission to preserve, celebrate, and share the rich art of Iranian dance, which has been banned in Iran since 1979.Since its founding, Khorshid Khanoom Dance Group has remained dedicated to keeping this beautiful and unique cultural art alive — teaching Iranian dance to children, teens, and enthusiasts of all backgrounds, and presenting it on stage for both Iranian and international audiences.In addition to preserving tradition, the group has continuously modernized Iranian dance movements, creating original choreographies inspired by social issues, gender, identity, and migration — performed across Canada, the U.S., and Europe.گروه رقص خورشید خانم در سپتامبر ۱۹۸۸ در شهر مونترال کانادا، به سرپرستی آرام بیات — دانش‌آموخته‌ی هنرستان رقص‌های ملی و محلی ایران زیر نظر وزارت فرهنگ و هنر رژیم پیشین — با هدف پاسداشت، نگهداری و معرفی هنر رقص ایرانی، که از سال ۱۹۷۹ در ایران ممنوع اعلام شده بود، بنیان‌گذاری شد.از همان آغاز تا به امروز، این گروه با آموزش رقص ایرانی به کودکان، نوجوانان و علاقه‌مندان ایرانی و غیرایرانی، و همچنین با اجرای صحنه‌ای این هنر زیبا و اصیل، همواره در معرفی و زنده نگه‌داشتن این میراث فرهنگی برای ایرانیان و جهانیان کوشا بوده است.علاوه بر حفظ سنت‌های اصیل، گروه خورشید خانم با بازآفرینی و به‌روز کردن قدم‌ها و حرکات رقص ایرانی، طراحی‌های نوینی را بر پایه‌ی موضوعات اجتماعی، جنسیت، هویت و مهاجرت ارائه کرده و این آثار را در کانادا، آمریکا و اروپا به نمایش گذاشته است.
