Luke Harvey

Luke Harvey retired from Caterpillar in May of 2024 to pursue his passion for beekeeping full-time. As the founder of Riverview Road Apiary, Luke combines his love for bees with his commitment to education, offering a variety of beekeeping events and public talks to share his extensive knowledge.Luke was born in Peoria, IL, and his early years were spent in Kobe, Japan, where he lived with his family from 1990 to 1996. After graduating from high school, he returned to the United States to attend the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, earning a degree in Biomedical Engineering.Luke's professional journey began at GE Medical, where he worked for seven years before joining Caterpillar. It was during his time at Caterpillar that he met his wife, Kelly Harvey. Their shared love for nature and community eventually led them to Chillicothe, IL, where they established Riverview Road Apiary along the picturesque Illinois River.Today, Luke is dedicated to promoting the importance of bees and beekeeping.
