Mean Streets is a Tucson Arizona based tribute band to one of Americas greatest bands, the titans of Southern California “Big Rock”: David Lee Roth era Van Halen!In a relatively short time, Mean Streets has taken their local rock scene by storm with their must be seen to be believed portrayal of one of the worlds most bombastic and beloved hard rock bands!Mean Streets consists of 4 extremely talented and versatile musicians with decades of experience between them:Vocalist Matt Concienne as “Diamond” David Lee Roth is an amazing singer & frontman as well as a guitarist & drummer who has been hearing his whole life how much he moved, sounded and looked like DLR, and when he shakes that blonde mane, belts out a scream and makes temperatures rise with his “crotch thrusting antics”, it should come as no surprise why people have described the experience of watching him as “uncanny”!Guitarist/Backing Vocalist Roger Stanley as Eddie Van Halen is a veteran of rock bands all the way from the East Coast to the West and is now wowing crowds in the Southwest with his dexterity & versatility as a guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist and all around sonic guru. It doesn’t take long for the listener to realize just how deeply he has studied EVH’s idiosyncratic and groundbreaking approach to rock guitar, successfully capturing the sound, phrasing and inventiveness that have made Eddie one of the worlds most influential rock guitarists!Drummer/Backing Vocalist Mike Troupe as Alex Van Halen is a musicians musician. A talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Mike combines the knowledge, control & intricacy of jazz and progressive music with the high energy and raw power of the best rock drummers. In addition to his ability to capture both the swing and the sting of Alex Van Halens propulsive drumming, his wide ranging vocal abilities add an extra element of versatility to the band, allowing them to recreate not just the live sound of VH’s famous harmonies, but also the multi-layered sound of the studio recordings!Rounding out the band is Bassist/Backing Vocalist Peter Gorritz as Michael Anthony. As any true VH fan knows, Mike Anthony was in many ways the bands “Secret Weapon”, his pristine vocals and rock solid bass playing were what kept the band grounded, allowing Eddie to fly and Dave to soar. Peter is a talented guitarist as well as a bassist, giving him a unique insight to the often unheralded but vitally important role that the bass plays in a rock band, especially a rock band like Van Halen, for whom groove was always as important as flash. Often swapping vocal duties with Roger & Mike as needed as well as lending the extra weight that a 4th vocal brings to the overall sound, Peter is, like MA himself, the utility player of Mean Streets, supplying both the solid foundation and the ability to fill in space in the same way that always made VH sound like a much larger band!While there are many bands out there that can do a pretty good job of capturing some elements of the Van Halen sound, you would be hard pressed to find another band that captures the thunderous precision of the recordings, the wild abandon of the live shows, the look and the sly humor & sheer showmanship that made the original VH legends in their own time in the same way that Mean Streets does!It’s a show that simply must be experienced to be believed!
