The Modlin Center for the Arts opened in 1996 and features state-of-the-art performance venues, galleries, studios, labs, and classrooms. Praised as “a work of art itself” by theRichmond Times-Dispatch,the 165,000-square-foot-facility is home to the world-class Modlin Arts Presents series, the Pearson Music Library, the University of Richmond Museums, and the departments of Theatre and Dance, Music, and Art and Art History.<p)The Modlin Center is home to more than forty incredible performing arts events as part of the celebrated Modlin Arts Presents Series, a program of world-renowned artists and performances from September through April. In addition, the Modlin Center is home to an abundance of free visual and performing arts events including rotating exhibits presented by the University Museums, five productions presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance, and more than twenty performances presented by the Department of Music. Many Modlin Center events feature academic components designed specifically for Richmond students. These activities, which are free and open to the public, include master-classes, lecture/demonstrations, workshops, and pre- and post-performance and exhibition lectures.
