National Council Negro Women (NCNW GEAS)

National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is an "organization of organizations," uniting 330 campus and community-based sections along with 33 national women’s organizations. Together, these affiliates enlighten, inspire, and connect over 2,000,000 women and men nationwide. Founded in 1935 by the renowned educator and activist Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, NCNW is dedicated to leading, advocating for, and empowering women of African descent, their families, and their communities. For more than fifty years, the iconic Dr. Dorothy Height served as president, leaving an enduring legacy of visionary leadership and service.Today, NCNW’s programs are built on a foundation of critical concerns that we now define as “NCNW Priorities.” Our organization champions education, nurtures entrepreneurship, and promotes financial literacy and economic stability. We are committed to educating women about health and expanding healthcare access, while also fostering civic engagement and advocating for sound public policy and social justice. These priorities ensure that our work remains responsive to the evolving needs of African American communities, empowering individuals to lead and transform their lives and the world around them.
