PROSPER is the Proactive Reduction of Suicide in Populations via Evidence-based Research.Dr. Kent A. Corso is a compassionate psychologist and behavior analyst who has spent the last 20 years improving the mental health and well-being of military, law enforcement, and rural communities. He is the founder of PROSPER, a suicide prevention program designed to empower and build community capacity, focus on strengths, leverage local culture, and unite people around suicide risk reduction.Our mission: To reduce suicide risk in communities through strength-based, culturally consistent education, empowerment, and community engagement.PROSPER Learning Objectives:Adopt language for suicidal people that is respectful and non-judgmental.Assist adults and youths with suicidal symptoms in a collaborative, empowering way, anchored in their values and priorities.Assess suicide risk in 8-10 minutes.Provide brief interventions to deactivate the suicidal mode.Discuss ambivalence and reasons for living with individuals.Collaboratively devise a crisis response plan that may reduce suicide attempts by 76%.
