We are the Ndi Igbo Cultural Association of Nova Scotia (NICANS)—a volunteer-run, community-rooted charity dedicated to celebrating Igbo heritage while building bridges across cultures. Our calendar ranges from vibrant public gatherings—like the IRI-JI (New Yam) Festival and the “Áfàméfùnà” documentary series—to hands-on language classes, history workshops, culinary pop-ups, and wellness circles that blend ancestral wisdom with modern well-being. Every program is designed to spark curiosity, amplify under-told stories, and foster equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout Atlantic Canada.
