Norfolk has a proud history of welcoming ‘Strangers’ to its shores and our group has been formed to explore and record stories behind the important contribution that Poles have made to this county since World War II or earlier. In collaboration with the Norfolk Record Office the group intends to research and gather stories and documents that will allow an archive to be formed to record Polish influence in the county, as no such collection exists at the present time. On a social level the group has also established Polish conversation classes aimed at English speakers trying to learn Polish skills and other activities include regular meetings, exhibitions and gatherings. The group, which is a not-for-profit organisation, has no political or religious affiliations but wants to celebrate the valuable role that the Polish community has played in our county. The Norfolk Polish Heritage Group is keen to hear from anyone living in Norfolk and Norwich who has family connections with Poland or an affinity with that country.
