The Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Australia (ROMCA) was formed in Sydney, Australia in 2019 by Nektary Kotlaroff, the choir’s conductor. ROMCA is an accapella male choir made up of 25 amateur choristers from across Sydney and Brisbane who sing both Russian Orthodox choral music and also folk songs of Russian and Slavic origin.ROMCA recently toured the east coast of the USA in December 2019, collaborating with choristers from around the US, Europe, Canada and Britain forming a 50- person male choir performing concerts of both spiritual and folk music.With the onset of COVID-19, ROMCA began creating virtual choir recordings while the choir was unable to come together to rehearse and perform. ROMCA’s recent virtual choir recordings of “Those were the days my friend” and “Kirie eleison” were awarded winner of “1st degree” in June 2020 of the Moscow Multicultural Music Festival with the “Kirie eleison” being awarded the “Grand Prix award”.ROMCA has just completed the professional recording of their first CD of Orthodox Liturgical Compositions. This CD will be launched in the third quarter of 2021, in concert with a national tour beginning in Brisbane on the 27 of June and progressing to most major and capital cities as resources and opportunities allow.With International awards and acclaim for their high standard of performance and a primary goal of glorifying God in song, the men of ROMCA are a unified and outstanding ensemble who will move you and leave you wanting more !
