Our MissionThe School Social Workers Association of Georgia seeks to improve the quality of services to students so as to enhance their individual and educational potential.Who We AreSchool Social Workers are advocates who help students achieve academic success by linking the home, school, and community. In order to reach this goal, School Social Workers provide support services to remove barriers to student success. These support services include intervention, crisis support, and mental health counseling, addressing issues of non-attendance and truancy, and behavioral assessments to name a few.What We DoWe support School Social Workers in Removing Barriers to Learning, as they:Utilize interventions to help improve school attendance, behavior, and academic achievementMobilize family, school, and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational programAlleviate stress by connecting students, family, and school staff by providing appropriate interventionsProvide Crisis interventionAssess students with mental health concernsIdentify and report child abuse and neglectConduct home visitsEnhance the professional capacity of school personnelAssist in implementing multi-tiered supportsCreate staff development and professional learning opportunitiesProvide case management for students and families
