The Sejong Cultural Society, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Illinois, was established in 2004. Our mission is to enhance awareness and understanding of Korea's cultural heritage in the United States, engaging younger generations through contemporary creative and fine arts. By doing so, we hope to make the rich culture behind Korea's vibrant history accessible to people of all ethnicities and nationalities.Programs:Sejong Music Competition - Introduce traditional Korean musical themes,Sejong Writing Competition (Essay/Sijo),Sejong International Sijo Competition,Sijo (Korea's poetry form) education programs, and Sejong International Music Composition Competition.Sejong Cultural Society also develops educational material for teaching Sijo, hosts various seminars on writing and teaching Sijo, provides online Sijo classes, and gives numerous lectures on Sijo. Sejong Cultural Society published a sijo reference book "SIJO: Korea's Poetry Form (Parkyoung Press, 2022)" which received 2023 Franklin R.
