Soroptimist was formed in 1921 in Oakland, California, at a time when women were notpermitted to join service organizations. Soroptimist loosely translated from the Latin, means bestfor women. Today Soroptimist International has clubs in more than 120 countries throughout theworld. Our club is a part of the Soroptimist International of the Americas, Desert Coast Region,District I.
