Southeast Service Cooperative

The Southeast Service Cooperative (SSC, ISD #921) is a public, non-profit agency started through Minnesota statutory authorization in July 1976. We serve over 100 public and private school districts, cities, counties, and other organizations in the 11-county southeast region of Minnesota. SSC’s administrative services include facilities management, volume purchasing, health insurance pool management, and the Wood Lake Meeting Center coordination. Educational programming includes professional development, mobile science labs and solar suitcases, student enrichment programming, career-connected learning events, multilingual learning licensure, STEM education, and so much more. SSC collaborates with the eight other MN Service Cooperatives to support education, local government, and non-profits statewide. SSC is recognized for its workplace flexibility practices and its productive culture. We are an award winning regional service agency with a sound track record of superior service, financial stability, and innovative thinking. In collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Education, SSC is also the southeast hub for COMPASS (Collaborative Minnesota Partnerships to Advance Student Success), the statewide education system designed to meet schools and districts where they are in the work to accelerate student learning and match the state's response to those needs. The COMPASS Statewide System of Support, inclusive of the READ Act-funded Regional Literacy Network, is made possible by a team of specialists at each of the nine regional service cooperatives who work in close collaboration with MDE. This expands continuous improvement opportunities to all districts, charter schools and Tribal schools and builds upon the assistance previously offered through the six Regional Centers of Excellence. Advocate support for ESSA targeted and comprehensive schools is also offered through the regional COMPASS team. COMPASS offers support for districts using the Minnesota Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MnMTSS) framework to support continuous improvement in the following areas:American Indian EducationCulturally Responsive School LeadershipData and Assessment LiteracyHighly Effective Tier 1 InstructionLiteracyMathMultilingual Learners and English Language DevelopmentSchool Culture, Climate, and WellbeingSpecial EducationProfessional Development
