St Giles' Cathedral is an iconic part of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile.St Giles’ was built on the very eastern edge of Edinburgh in 1124 and pre-dates most of the Old Town. The building hosts an original 1638 copy of the National Covenant as well as the beautifully crafted Thistle Chapel, where the Order of the Thistle still meets today. It has also been home to historic events like the Scottish Reformation and royal visits. St Giles' Cathedral remains a working church today as well as one of Edinburgh's most popular visitor sites. We are open to visitors and also have a regular schedule of guided tours, concerts, and other events.
