St Mary's Walthamstow

St Mary’s is the ancient parish church of Walthamstow and we have a history of innovation, from the establishment of Monoux Almshouses in the 16th century to the opening of the first purpose-built Church of England infants’ school in the 19th.With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we restored and renewed our ancient church building in 2022. We also took the opportunity to launch the Creative Church, a programme designed to explore and strenghten the connections between history, art, creativity and culture of the church and local area. We do this by partnering with professional artists, heritage professionals and local residents to co-create exhibitions, concerts, workshops as well as other activities and events.St Mary’s is always for everyone, regardless of background or belief.
