Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts

The Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts (SECPA) at Holy Trinity Catholic High School is a state of the art performing arts centre that was created through a proud partnership between the Fort McMurray Catholic School Board, Suncor Energy and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Fostering partnerships and meeting community needs were the driving forces behind the initiative and created a dynamic facility for the Wood Buffalo region.The Centre serves as a major instructional space for Holy Trinity Catholic High School, with many specialized programs focused on visual and performing arts.Additionally, it is a cultural hub that offers a number of dynamic visual and performing arts programs for community members and groups to utilize.The Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts in also home to UpTown! at SECPASECPA includes a Proscenium Black Box Theatre, with seating for 350, a floor level playing space that is sprung throughout, state of the art theatre audio and lighting equipment, a short travel theatrical fly system and a full stage white PVC cyclorama for projection and special lighting effects. The venue boasts a state-of-the-art lighting rig with over 200 instruments, a 4K Laser Projector and five speaker Meyer PA with over fifty microphones. We are more than equipped to host your theatre production, conference, meeting, wedding, festival or banquet!The “Black Box” moniker refers to the space’s ability to be configured in layouts other than traditional proscenium theatre. We can accommodate the following configurations:Theatre (Proscenium)Arena (In the Round)Thrust (Seating on 3 sides)Alley (Seating on 2 Sides)Banquets (Complete Flat Floor) with Round or Rectangular TablesPortable Platform Risers can be used to form a raised stage.The facility also boasts various multi-purpose spaces, Foods and Fashion/Sewing Labs, Box Office and more. Our Multi-Purpose Spaces also have sprung floors, which make it perfect for your dance or drama rehearsals.Our entire facility is accessible for low-mobility individuals, and holds a Silver Standard LEED Certification.
