The Southwest Council on Children & Youth– an affiliate of theTennessee Commission on Children & Youth– is a regional advocacy group - serving Chester, Decatur, Fayette, Hardin, Hardeman, Haywood, Henderson, Lauderdale, McNairy, Madison, and Tipton Counties. It is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization.The Council represents the region by:Identifying needs and services available within the region for childrenSetting region-wide priorities and developing position statements regarding childrenInforming its members, children’s service and other service providers, public officials, and citizens about the needs of children in the region and the stateAdvising and making recommendations to the Tennessee Commission on Children & Youth, the Governor and the Tennessee General Assembly on issues affecting the children of Southwest TennesseeConducting service and education activities within the region that increase awareness of the needs of children and local efforts to meet those needsConducting activities to foster cooperation and the exchange of information among Council members - and friends of the Southwest Council
