Dr. Tamara Hefferon is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who has a strong passion instilling and empowering others to achieve optimum health, believing strongly in the mantra Exercise is Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona, with an emphasis in exercise physiology.While in Tucson her love of hiking, biking, and wine was cultivated. Dr. Hefferon completed her doctoral studies at A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona and was able to bridge her strong fitness background with excellent manual therapy skills. Her adventurous side was maximized during this time with sky-diving in Eloy, Zip-lining in Costa Rica, drinking Chianti in Italy and getting married to Eric Hefferon!Her emphasis post-graduation has been in 3 main areas: Myofascial and Mobilization with Movement work with patients experiencing injuries from competition of reconstructive surgeries; unique exercise programming for return to sport or return to function; and treatment for persons with early onset and early stage Parkinson’s Disease.Dr. Hefferon, COO and co-founder of Impact Physical Therapy, also teaches full time in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Franklin Pierce University. Here her emphasis is in the Orthopedic tract of Physical therapy and Parkinson’s Disease. She is blessed to also be a part of the faculty for LSVT BIG in which she travels throughout the world certifying physical and occupational therapists in the remarkable body treatment for patients with Parkinson’s Disease.Dr. Hefferon has been a featured speaker and guest speaker throughout the Greater Phoenix area including: Power Over Parkinson’s Conference, Davis Phinney Victory Summit, All-Star Conference. Arizona Republic articles include the following topics; Improving the quality of life for women post mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, aquatic therapy, and exercise for those with Parkinson’s Disease. She was featured in Advanced Magazine with an article on Traumatic Brain Injury in young men. Recently she was the primary physical therapist for a regional crossfit competitor managing torn and injured connective tissue throughout his training.Dr. Hefferon loves life and is constantly on the move, yet her most treasured time of the day is her one on one time with kids Natalie, 8, and Jackson, 10.
