The Lemont Hall

Built in 1870, the four-story building on the corner of Pleasant & Maine Streets was built by the Knights of Pythias, a fraternal order established during the Civil War. According to the Pejepscot Historical Society, this stunning room with its original dais and catwalk served as the venue for many compelling speeches and events in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Frederick Douglass spoke there during his visit to town. Chamberlain spoke there several times in his later life including as President of Bowdoin College. The upper floors of the building, including a grand hall on the second floor, have been shuttered since the 1980s.What followed was a top-to-bottom restoration into the intimate, luxurious and soulful event space you see before you.The Lemont Hall Now Features:Capacity for 299 PersonsElevator for guests and load-insKitchenette for smaller catering needsNewly restored windows and new HVAC cooling and heating systemsHouse PA System including two microphonesOriginal Baby-Grand Piano - tuned and ready to play
