Our MissionThe Sewing Labs is an inclusive and welcoming community teaching the legacy of sewing for employment, entrepreneurship, and enrichment.Who We Are and What We DoThe Sewing Labs is a nonprofit organization based in Kansas City, MO, dedicated to providing job training and job placement opportunities through textile arts. We empower individuals, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, with the skills and experience needed to pursue careers in industrial sewing. Our flagship program, the Sewing Salon Training Program, is a 30-week registered apprenticeship program that prepares graduates to work as industrial sewing machine operators. We also offer weekly classes in sewing, embroidery, and creative expression, providing opportunities for people of all skill levels to learn, create, and connect. At The Sewing Labs, we transform lives by teaching new skills, fostering creativity, and strengthening our community.
