Unruly Beauty

Unruly Beauty is a digital platform that interrogates aesthetic violence and the politics of ugliness. We are here to challenge the underlying assumptions and beliefs that uphold euro-centric beauty ideals and want an end to the disposability and violence that those deemed ugly are subjected to.Why do we refuse to see beauty in Blackness? Why do we refuse to celebrate the humanity, the full aliveness of Black people? We need radical new paradigms for thinking about beauty and locating Blackness within that paradigm. We are here to dismantle white supremacist delusions of beauty and move closer to bodies that have been coded not only as ugly, but un-human.
