Vertex Quartet

Vertex Quartet is an Edmonton-based string quartet comprised of 4 professional musicians: Christina Barry (violin), Lydia Metzger (violin), Melissa Lank (cello) and Jenna Gensler (viola). The quartet was formed in 2016 with a mission to expose people of all ages and backgrounds to both rare and familiar classical music.Vertex Quartet is an Edmonton-based string quartet comprised of 4 professional musicians: Christina Barry (violin), Lydia Metzger (violin), Melissa Lank (cello) and Jenna Gensler (viola). The quartet was formed in 2016 with a mission to expose people of all ages and backgrounds to both rare and familiar classical music.The name "Vertex" is derived from the geometry term for a corner or point where two or more lines meet, which is a great metaphor for a string quartet, where there are four musical lines joining at a vertex to form a cohesive musical shape!Vertex Quartet regularly performs recital-style concerts and is often hired to perform for weddings, live events, and studio recordings. Vertex Quartet regularly collaborates with other guest musicians (i.e. pianists, wind instruments, etc.) to expand their musical potential and audience interest.Vertex Quartet has collaborated with the jazz band Good Information on a series performed live at the Edmonton International Jazz Festival. They also recorded with the band Rare Americans. Vertex Quartet most recently performed with the Vaughan String Quartet and for the St. Albert Chamber Music Society!
